Ratt InfestationCalifornian hard rock veterans Ratt will release their new album, "Infestation", on April 20 via Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records.

"Best Of Me", the first single from "Infestation", is available for streaming in its entirety using the player below. The track is available digitally at Amazon.com. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Look Out Below", "A Little Too Much" and "Garden Of Eden".

Ratt vocalist Stephen Pearcy recently told AOL's Noisecreep about "Best Of Me", "You always think the grass is greener on the other side, but in fact it isn't. So you're letting someone know 'you're the best thing I got, but I had to go fuck around to figure it out.' It's one of those you-don't-know-what-you-got-'till-it's-gone kind of things. With me, I go through this shit every day. I'm married one day, then I'm not, but I am."

The band's first studio CD in 10 years, "Infestation" was produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette, whose credits include Puddle of Mud, Chevelle, Saliva, Limp Bizkit, Alter Bridge and Three Days Grace, to name a few. The effort — which has been described by singer Stephen Pearcy as a cross between 1984's "Out Of The Cellar" and 1985's "Invasion Of Your Privacy" — marked the first time the group had stepped outside of Los Angeles to track a new CD in 20-plus years.

"The best part was having pre-production in Virginia, and getting away from our families and our personal shit and the L.A. scene," Pearcy told AOL's Noisecreep. "While we were recording, we actually all lived in the same compound. It was great. It was the first time we had ever done that. It was almost like when we lived in a one bedroom apartment we called Ratt Mansion West back in the old days."

Regarding the recording process, drummer Bobby Blotzer told Noisecreep, "It was a great experience, but there are always speed bumps in Ratt. It's never an easy job to get to the finish line. We're kind of a dysfunctional bunch in the way that we work. It's not an English tea party. It's more like a pirate ship with a bunch of salty dogs. We work hard, we play hard, and it makes the aggression in the music come out more. But when we finally get where we're going, it makes the ride more rewarding."

On the subject of Carlos Cavazo's (Quiet Riot) addition to Ratt, Pearcy said, "He's perfect for the band. He co-wrote a couple songs and he plays like a motherfucker on this thing. Great live, great guy and great integrity for what he does. And as far as the double solos thing goes, he and Warren (DeMartini) knew exactly what they were doing. It was like the old days."

"Playing together was just like being old friends hanging out," Cavazo said. "Doing the record was fun and very easy. It was one of the easiest records I've recorded in my life. No one was arguing or yelling at each other in the studio. It went really smooth."

You can purchase the single "Best of Me" exclusively at Amazon.com.

Wendy Checks in with Ronnie's Treatment Update PDF Print E-mail

After a few hiccups between Christmas and New Year’s, such as a blood clot, a trip to the emergency room, and a three day stay at the hospital, we had a quiet holiday spent with family and close friends. Ronnie and I just returned from Houston, where Ronnie had his third chemo treatment, and all seems to be going well. Ronnie and Simon Wright went to see Avatar, which he thought was amazing! He has also been writing more chapters for his book.

While at M.D. Anderson Cancer Centre on his second trip, he met a DIO fan named Carmen who has been having treatment every other day for a year, and is eagerly awaiting a bone marrow transplant. Ronnie and Carmen have become fast friends. Carmen is a very positive happy person whose existence, like Ronnie’s, depends heavily on music and sports. On the third trip, we also met his mom and sister, whose total support is so important to all cancer patients. They have become part of our family as well.

The support we get from all of our friends and fans is such a blessing to Ronnie and I.

Ronnie, Geezer, Tony and Vinny will be doing some interviews in the upcoming weeks to be included in the new 30th anniversary Heaven and Hell DVD due out sometime this year.

We would like to thank Simon Wright, who has been such a help with everything and a good, good friend, of course our doctor at MD Anderson, Dr. Ajani, and especially our family doctor, Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, without whose quick diagnosis and help with all the nurses and hospitals, we would be lost. His care and compassion is unwavering.

Thanks again to all of Ronnie’s friends and fans, and --- by the way ---- Ronnie has not lost any hair yet!

The Scorpions Say Farewell to Their Fans This Year PDF Print E-mail

From the AP:

The German rock band Scorpions is bringing down the curtain on a career spanning more than four decades.

The band, known for its early 1990s hit "Wind of Change" among others, said on its website Sunday that "we agree we have reached the end of the road."

It said it would end its career with a final album - "Sting in the Tail," to be released in March - and a tour that will start in Germany in May and take it across the world "over the next few years."

Guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the band in Hannover in 1965. Singer Klaus Meine joined a few years later. Both men are 61.

From the Scorpions Website:

"Important message to our fans:

"It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you — whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.

"While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was — and how much fun we were still having in the process. But there was also something else: we want to end the Scorpions' extraordinary career on a high note.

"We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we've always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.

"We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this.

"Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!"

You can see this statement at their website and hear snippets of their new and final CD as well.

Ozzy Osbourne plans 18 month tour to Support of New CD PDF Print E-mail

According to U.K.'s The Sun, Ozzy Osbourne is planning to go on an 18-month music tour in support of his new album, "Soul Sucka". The disc, Ozzy's first since 2007's "Black Rain", is tentatively slated to come out in June and will feature songs such as "Let It Die", "Diggin' Me Down" and the title track. The record will be the first to feature Ozzy's new guitarist, Greek native Gus G., who replaced longtime axeman Zakk Wylde in Ozzy's band last year.

Ozzy, who works out every day, doesn't drink or smoke, tells The Sun, "Someone recently asked me what I hoped to be doing in ten years — I just hope I'm still alive, you know? I'm 61 now and you get to the age where your friends start dying.

"I don't know where time goes. Sharon [Ozzy's wife/manager] and I have been married nearly 30 years. We hardly row any more because we're too knackered.

"The thing is, I don't know how 61 is meant to feel. Physically I can't do as much as I did but my mind doesn't feel my age.

"The good thing about being in entertainment is you don't have to retire just because you reach a certain age. Life doesn't end when you get to 65. I'm just going to keep fucking going, you know?"
